February 10, 2022. Scientists at the University of California, San Francisco identify the molecular binding site of niclosamide on TMEM16 by high resolution cryo-electron microscopy. We are delighted with this new study describing the structure of niclosamide in a complex with TMEM16 proteins that extends our discovery in 2019 of the first molecular target for this drug, which represents a promising new treatment for respiratory disease. This new research by Y. Cheng and associates at UCSF was published as a pre-print in the journal Research Square (DOI:https://doi.org/10.21203/rs.3.rs-1296933/v1).
